Lean Burn Engines
Attainment Technologies low emission system
for lean burn engines is based on "virtual lean burn
process". With the help of some engine enhancements,
the highly efficient lean burn combustion process is retained
while there is no excess air used in the combustion process.
This technology combines the advantages of both lean burn
and rich burn engines:
· High efficiency of lean burn
engines
· High power output of lean burn
engines
· Low engine knock tendency of
lean burn engines
· Ultra low emissions
- Availability
of Non-Selective Catalytic Reduction ("NSCR")
three-way catalyst technology
*NSCR
is a proven technology with high conversion rates for all
air pollutants
ERU 1001 Emission Control System for Lean
Burn Engines:
The ERU 1001 is Attainment Technologies proprietary
U.S. Patented emission reduction system for spark ignited
lean burn reciprocating engines. A simulated lean-burn
combustion process is obtained via minor engine enhancements.
Instead of excess air, re-circulated and cooled exhaust gas
is used as a heat sink. High, lean burn engine compression
ratios can be used without engine knock complications. Engine
performance and fuel efficiency is equivalent to a standard
lean burn engine. The huge advantage compared to lean burn
engines is the availability of NSCR as an emission after-treatment.
This is possible, since there is no excess oxygen in the exhaust
stream.

Rich Burn Engines
Attainment Technologies low emission system
for rich burn engines is similar to the lean burn engine process.
It is also based on a "virtual lean burn process".
With the help of additional engine enhancements, the less
efficient rich burn engine is modified to become more of a
lean burn style engine. Once again, excess air is removed
from the combustion process. This technology combines the
advantages of rich burn and lean burn engines:
· Ultra low emissions

ERU 1002 Emission Control System for Rich
Burn Engines:
The ERU 1002 is Attainment Technologies proprietary
U.S. Patented emission reduction system for spark ignited
rich burn reciprocating engines. A simulated lean-burn
combustion process is obtained for the rich burn engine.
The simulated lean burn process will lower the engine raw
emissions dramatically. The use of Exhaust Gas Recirculation
can lower the NOx raw emission by up to 80%. Second and maybe
even more important is the higher power output and better
fuel efficiency when a higher compression ratio can be used.
Experience with a Caterpillar 3516 turbocharged engine show
increase in Power output by 10% and a decrease in fuel
consumption of 7% when this principal is applied.

Compression Ignition or Diesel Engines
Compression Ignition engines are commonly fueled by diesel
fuel hence the common name "Diesel Engine". Diesel
engines are mainly challenged by Particulate Matter ("PM"),
NOx, CO and HC emission regulations. Proper Maintenance (especially
fuel injectors) can readily improve emissions if the engine
is not properly maintained. Attainment Technologies' 25 years
of experience in the Diesel engine market can assist your
company in optimizing your Diesel engine to reduce emissions
to the lowest extent possible.
Dual Fuel Conversion
for Diesel Engines
One method that is gaining significant momentum
at this time our conversion of your Diesel engine to a dual
fuel (natural gas and Diesel) engine. This conversion is part
of our emissions and engine optimization strategy since it
combines the benefits of lower emissions with the benefits
of fuel efficiency and power density inherit in a standard
Diesel engine.
Further improvements can be achieved with
various after-treatment systems:
